Wed Day

Cohabitation. I've been living with the hubs since we were both 22 - babies, right?! Oh man, it's been a journey, lots of highs and lows, but I think we've both learned a lot along the way. I bring this up because my baby sister (age 25) is moving in with her high school sweet heart. So sweet, no? They've been together for a good long while, and are as cute as can be, but there could still be a few growing pains here and there. So, being the prototypical "older sibling," I felt compelled to jot down a few lessons I've learned from living with a boy all these years.

Come up with a plan for the household chores that feels good and balanced to you both. It's not 1950, everyone works, everyone needs to contribute to the home.

Remember to nurture your friendship, it's easy to get caught up in the boring every day BS, but you gotta have fun too. It's just as important as brushing your teeth.

Pick your battles. Every little annoyance doesn't need to be a fight, because sometimes "winning" really isn't.

Also be sure to keep flirting with each other. Never stop flirting

You will get on each others nerves, but it will be okay. So ...

Be courteous! I've said it before, and I'm sure I'll say it again, your boyfriend/lover/partner is now also your roomie. You need to show the same level of politeness and courtesy that you'd show a hose-mate - in practice this is less formal than it sounds. Pick up your underwear, don't leave your socks in the kitchen, say "thank you," it's amazing how much these little things (good and bad) really matter.

If noting else, please remember, that it will be work, but if you're meant for each other, it will be worth it. So worth it.

I'm so happy for you and your beau sissy pants, I love you more than I can say. Good luck - xo!
