Thursday's Tidbit

I find this piece of Master Plan, the first small and temporary installation of an ongoing series by Chad Wright (photography by Lynn Kloythanomsup of Architectural Black), so compelling.

The project - sand castles created to look like post war track homes conforming to a strict suburban grid - is both a personal reflection for Wright and a commentary on the American Dream. A dream, that in light of recent history (the housing crisis comes to mind) often feels just as ephemeral as a castle built of sand. The homes start off neat and tidy, and then are slowly eroded by the waves relentlessly and in unpredictable patterns.

Beautiful, haunting, and sad, no?

  1. that looks so cool... I can't even imagine the work he is putting into the project and only for it to be washed away.
