A smokey eye is like a leopard print pump - a pseudo-neutral that elevates your whole look just so. Even though the smokey eye looks intuitive, it can be tricky to get just right.

Above is a classic smokey eye: rich colors (metallics in this case, but you could virtually use any pallet), that are darker at the lash line and toward the outside corners, generous mascara, and a pop of high lighter at the inner corner and at the brow bone finish the look. Striking, right? But, maybe still not intuitive. Let's break it down...
