Weekend Wrap-Up

Monday, July 15, 2013

I must have been in girl-time withdrawals, because I really soaked up some qt with my ladies this weekend.

Friday evening my friend Mer and I headed down to Los Altos, a pretty community adjacent to Palo Alto (aka the 'burbs of Silicon Valley), to spend the night with our girl Ash who's staying there for the summer. I haven't really spent any time in the South Bay since moving to San Francisco (five and a half years ago -yikes) so it was neat to explore a new (to me) area. That evening I broke out my super high heels, the pair I just can't wear in the City (damn hills) and the three of us went to La Bodeguita Del Medio for dinner and drinks. It was one of these great leisurely meals, where both the conversation and wine flow freely, and before you know it three hours had passed. We closed the restaurant down, and headed back to our home base in the hills for a little more rose and a lot more girl talk.

The next morning we went on a mini urban hike to brunch. We decided to try Bumble, a darling little spot that looked like a Nantucket cottage with a sandbox for the kiddos in the front patio. Needless to say, I had high hopes. Maybe I've been spoiled by San Francisco restaurants, but my expectations were sadly not met. The service was only so-so, everything we ordered (including specified food allergy substitutions) was messed up, our bill was incorrect, and we all left with tummies that were, let's say, "unsettled." Sigh, such is life. After a good laugh and a walk back, it was time to head home.

That evening the hubs and I met up with friends for a little stand-up at Cobb's Comedy Club. We saw John Mulaney - so funny! If you have the chance to catch his show, do. Such a fun date.

Sunday was a little more low-key. I went for a walk, got my nails did, ran a few errands, and met up with Di and her little sister for a late afternoon coffee date. It was a nice note to cap off an equally nice weekend.

What did you dolls do? I'd love to here!

  1. Sounds like you had a lovely weekend! I was also on the Peninsula. Visited my brother in Palo Alto. I also went out to dinner to Alegria's on Lombard for the first time. Really tasty.
