Oh. My. Gosh. In Portland, OR you can rent a goat to trim your lawn ... a goat! I think this is an amazing idea, plus it's maybe the most natural way to go. Goats are more nimble than most mowers, don't emit toxic fumes, provide their own fertilizer, and are super cute. Way to go Portland - this is one of the best and silliest things I've heard in a while.
Not ready to commit to buying your very own goat? Rent one! There are quite a few options out there - I know, who knew?! There's Goat Finder, Eco Goats, and Rent-a-Ruminant. If I had a lawn (and lived in Portland) I would definitely consider this - would you?

I love it! My mom rented 2 goats and 2 sheep and I think a llama for our (now uninhabited) horse pasture. They had it cleared in less than a week! Definitely the way to go.
