Livy's 1st Birthday Party

Tuesday, May 26, 2015

Hi dolls, how are ya? Coming off of a fab-o weekend I hope!

Like I mentioned, our darling girl turned one whole year old a few weeks ago. To celebrate, we threw a small party at Palisades Park in Santa Monica. Here are a few photos if you'd like to see:

It was a really special afternoon. I was so pleased with the way it all turned out. Big thanks to our friends and family who took the day to celebrate this happy milestone for our little family with us. It truly takes a village and we are so grateful for ours.

Tips & Tricks

Tuesday, July 1, 2014

The weather is finally heating up, which means ... it's iced coffee time!

This is one of those genius-so-simple-why-didn't-I-think-of-it ideas. Freeze coffee to make ice cubes for iced coffee. Chill your coffee for a warm day treat with out watering it down-- so smart, right?

Firefly Educational Consulting

Monday, June 30, 2014

It's amazing how fast your priorities shift as soon as you become a parent. Less "Do you want to go out tonight?" and more "Our baby is six weeks old, do we need to put her on the preschool waiting list?"

If you're also struggling with the latter, and happen to live in Southern California, you're in luck. One of my dearest friends is launching an educational consulting firm to help parents navigate the private school application process, from choosing the school best for your child to receiving that acceptance letter. She even offers a preschool package to help parents with their littlest learners. Read more about her and her company, Firefly Educational Consultinghere.

I'm so proud of you, C!

2014 Met Gala

Wednesday, May 7, 2014

So unless you've been living under a rock, you know that the 2014 Met Gala happened on Monday. Ack! This is my favorite "fashion thingy" of the year. Yes, even more so than the Oscars. I love that most of the celebrities and guests break out the couture and that more than just beautiful gowns, people come dressed in head to toe works of art. It's that extra dose of creativity that gets me.

There were way too many beautiful looks for me to narrow it down to a top three, so here are my favorite round ups:
1 / 2 / 3. Enjoy!

Should I wash my hair?

Monday, May 5, 2014

Ha! This is my daily dilemma -- and I will say that more often than not, the answer is no.

The Big 3 - 0

Tuesday, April 29, 2014

Happy birthday to meee!

I'm 30 today dolls. Three. Zero. It's a big one and it totally snuck up on me. I must admit, I've been preoccupied with another little girl's impending birthday and haven't given a lot of thought to mine. The hubs and I celebrated with a joint 30th party in March (in between both of our real birthday's) so I feel like I've already done the necessary celebrating. This birthday will be quieter than most, but I think that's appropriate for where I am right now (i.e. 9 months pregnant).

30 hasn't hit me that hard. Honestly, 20 was a much bigger shock. I'm actually pretty content with where my life is in this moment. I don't know if it's exactly what I pictured 30 would be, but I feel "grown-up" on good days, and am happy more often than not. So I'm calling that a win. I'm proud of the progress I made in my 20's and am excited to see where my 30's lead.

I still firmly believe that the best is yet to come - cheers to that dolls!

Tuesday's Tips & Tricks

Tuesday, April 8, 2014

Do any of you do this? Save corks from wine and champagne bottles opened on special occasions? I don't do it as often as I think I should. I've saved a few key bottles with the date and occasion written on them - the sparkling wine we opened when we got engaged for instance. But what about the special bottle we opened on a girls-night-in last year? That would have been a fun one to keep. Plus, how cool do all these corks look stored in an interesting jar or vase? A conversation starter at the very least.

Is there anything else you collect to preserve memories? I used to collect shells, and the hubs collects rocks.

Baby Shower

Thursday, March 20, 2014

A few weekends back I went down to LA for a baby shower ... my baby shower. Eek!

My mama and sister were sweet enough to plan and host. It was a completely DIY affair. My mama handmade the invitations, my sister and I cooked (mostly my sister - who am I kidding?), my sister crafted, and I took care of the table scape and flowers. It ended up being an intimate afternoon, mostly family plus a few sweet friends, even my 88 year old grandma came!

We did most of the typical baby shower things, I opened gifts, we played games, chit chatted, and I wore a polka dotted dress. It was a really nice day. I so appreciated all the work my mom and sister put into it, and was really touched by the love and support from my friends and family.

Oh babies ... so many reasons to celebrate.

Oscars 2014

Tuesday, March 4, 2014

Did y'all watch the Oscars on Sunday? I was traveling back from LA so I missed a good deal of it, what can you do?

The moment above had to be my favorite. Plus, how moving was Lupita's speech? She's so beautiful, but she seems like she's just as lovely on the inside (if not more so). What was your favorite moment? Aside from the fashion of course.

Thursday, February 27, 2014

I hope you'll all indulge me for a minute -- about two weeks ago the lovely and talented Mallory of Mallory Miya Photography came to our home and took some intimate maternity shots. Here are a few of my favorites...

Thank you Mallory, I had so much fun shooting with you.

I completely recommend her to all you Bay Area mamas-to-be out there (ps: she does weddings, engagements, and newborn shoots too!).  xo!
